Casino Windsor Cares about Computer Literacy
Windsor, Ontario, 6/23/2005
Windsor, Ont. – Advancing learning through computer literacy is part of creating a vibrant, strong community. In support of this goal, Casino Windsor Cares presented the Windsor Public Library with a donation of $50,000 toward the “Casino Windsor Cares” Smart Lab Computer Training Centre, unveiled today at the Central Library.
The centre is a vital resource for seniors, new Canadians and individuals interested in improving their literacy and computer skills to increase future job opportunities. The funds donated by Casino Windsor Cares helps to supply instructors and provide the latest equipment to the centre.
Kevin Laforet, Casino Windsor’s President and CEO said, “Expanding and renovating our facility is an exciting new phase in the city’s history. But our commitment to Windsor goes beyond concrete and steel. Supporting educational programs like those offered by the Windsor Public Library helps to build a strong community and provide the tools needed for individuals to move forward.”
The relationship between the Windsor Public Library and Casino Windsor Cares has spanned 10 years including a $10,000 donation in 2002 for the Casino Windsor Cares Language Adult Learning Literacy Lab, located on the second floor of the Central Library. Casino Windsor Cares has also given funds in 1996 and 1997 to support a variety of Adult Literacy campaigns by the Windsor Public Library.
