The Improv Celebrates 50 Years of Laughs

To celebrate 50 years as the industry’s premier stage for both up-and-coming comedians and the greats of the genre, Harrah’s Las Vegas will host appearances by some of comedy’s brightest stars throughout the year.

Featured Comedians

Dat Phan: Known as the original winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” Dat Phan creates a culturally insightful show, using his youthful energy and unique life experiences. Phan has been featured on many movies and TV shows, such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Tyra Banks Show,” “Cellular” and “Family Guy.”

Leslie Ann Thompson: Leslie Ann Thompson has participated in several stand-up comedy competitions including the 2005 “Michigan Comedy Survival” where she won second place, the 2006 “Canadian Mist Comedy Competition” and the “Detroit International Comedy Festival.” Thompson has performed in clubs from coast-to-coast and on a cruise ship in China.

Traci Skene (Sept. 23): Traci Skene, a Philadelphia native, was once named "Funniest Woman in Philadelphia." Skene’s comments on the questionable fashion choices of Hollywood's "beautiful people" are a regular part of US Weekly's wildly popular "Fashion Police." Her fans delight in her pithy tweets and her humorous personal blog, Road Atlas Shrugged.

Gary Cannon (Sept 24 - 28): Gary Cannon began his comedy career in San Francisco, moving to L.A. after developing his style and confidence. From working some of the top clubs in Southern California, Cannon transitioned his comedy into another area: studio audience warm-up. Cannon started on the “Dean Martin Celebrity Roast” infomercial and then went on to warm up audiences for the “Late, Late Show” with Craig Kilborn and with Craig Ferguson as well as “Last Call with Carson Daly.

Reviews

"There are few things greater in life then the gift of laughter and the Improv at Harrah's brings you just that. The show features a rotating roster of comedians, often from shows like "Last Comic Standing" and "Seinfeld." As you walk in, there are clips of the comics you will be seeing on a big-screen monitor on stage. The comedians will lift your spirits with original live comedy and two shows per night." -Nikki Neu, Vegas.com
"This offshoot of Budd Friedman's famed comedy club (the first one opened in 1963 in New York City) presents about four comedians per show in a 400-seat showroom. These are talented performers -- the top comics on the circuit, ones you're likely to see on Leno and Letterman. You can be sure of an entertaining evening." -Frommer’s
"Comedy impresario Budd Friedman oversees the bookings for this 300-seat showroom on the second floor of Harrah's. It has the occasional bigger name such as Jay Mohr and is frequently packaged with room or player's club discounts." -Fodor’s
