Earth Hour 2009

Harrah’s Entertainment played a primary role in making Las Vegas a flagship city in the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour 2009. In total 22 of our resorts and properties in North America joined the world in shutting down the lights for one hour to demonstrate our commitment to changing the environment.

Earth Hour is an important statement to the world that we are taking climate change seriously.

Throughout the year, Harrah's Entertainment is committed to environmentally sustainable programs. We are proud to be the only casino to have won an EPA Environmental Quality Award and we stand alone in the industry in our commitment to reduce greenhouse gases as an EPA Climate Leader.

We have spent more than $60M in conservation projects over the last five years. This investment has allowed us to avoid carbon emissions. Annually our carbon avoidance is the equivalent of more than 80,000 round trip flights from LA to NY, each year.
